It’s been three years
May 3, 2012

I have a friend named Chris and he was one of my good friends in high school. Without him wanting to apply to University of Michigan together with me, I would not be where I am today. Three years ago, he ended up not going to Michigan at the last minute and left me hanging alone, without knowing why he did that. After those years, I finally got to meet up with him today!

We met in Starbucks and it was a delight to see his face again, and his voice was a bit unfamiliar. Long story short, he was doing more than fine and just didn’t keep in touch with me back then. As I ended up going to the school that he wanted to attend, I made sure to not wear any Michigan gears in case… But it’s crazy, because I was afraid that he fell away from Christ like many others, but he told me about how God’s been working in his life. He had already decided to go to Haiti after graduating for eight years or so. We talked about many things including our own updates, personal struggles, and memories from our good old high school days. It’s been about four hours already and my eyes were getting a bit tired, ha. As we closed up our conversations and got up to leave, I made an eye contact with another familiar face, Hyung Joon.

Oh boy, this was going to take a long time, haha. I said bye to Chris and went out to talk with the next customer. Although I don’t know too much about him, we’ve had our fond memories of playing Maple Story for countless hours in middle school and even went to the same high school in ninth grade together. The only things I know of him is that he had a hard time with his broken family. He told me of his dad getting remarried recently and that he’s happy for them. I didn’t know how to bring up whether he’s still a believer or not, but I somehow did, and he said he hasn’t been going to the church. “Hm okay, do you still believe?” He acknowledged there’s a higher being, but he wants to learn about others to justify which one is real. I guess that’s logical. He had to study for finals next day and I departed after maybe an hour or so of talking.

I’ve been in that Starbucks for so long and when I asked for refill on a tea, the worker wouldn’t believe that I was there since 1 pm -_-
