A study on Romans

Romans 1:1-17

When God answers something and after a while, we may go back to the sins or question if God is there. But that means God is not finished with us, and that he has more for us.

Romans

  • Written about 56-57 AD, most likely from Corinth
  • Introduce Paul to the Roman church
  • Exposition of Gospel
  • Prominent topics: judgment, salvation, righteousness, justification, practical life
  • Invitation to partnership

Paul’s New Identity

  • Calling (v1-4) – servant of Jesus, apostle, set apart for the gospel
  • Purpose (v5-6) – obedience of faith, for the sake of his name, among all the nations

Paul’s New Life

  • Thankfulness (v8)
  • Prayer (v9-10)
  • Mutual encouragement (v11-12)
  • Reaching the Gentiles (v13-15)

Although one may not want to do something and could be a responsibility, but it can be done with eager too.

Life Application

  • Embrace your identity as a servant of Christ
  • Ask God to give you His heart
  • Participate in God’s mission by faith
