Jarheads’ Spring Break
February 26, 2012

Every spring break, I always have an assignment due on that weekend, I would stay up late, and drive off somewhere in a snowy weather. Eight of the Jarheads spent the first few days of the Spring break together and it began from going to Bo’s place in Bloomfield, Mi. Walking into a big house with a TV in each room, it sure was a nice place to stay for a night. We went down to the basement for a movie night and watched Tangled. Even though Robby and I’ve watched it too many times, it was Bo’s first time and we all enjoyed it after all.

We played games like true color up late and had so much fun that no one wanted to sleep except Bo who passed out on the couch. The basement was unbearably cold that all Robby said during his sleep was “It’s so cold.” Waking up early in the morning, we started off the day with qt and a nice egg and bacon sandwich prepared by our brothers, yum.
Then we went off to a place called Eastern Market in Detroit, and it was awesome. Many produces were fresh and it was filled with everyone selling and buying fruits to vegetables. While Detroit is known to be dying, places like this was definitely lively.

Nearing lunch time around noon, we went to Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries and the first thing I noticed were two men reading the bible together. One reciting and explaining the words to the other. Even in a place like this where people aren’t well off with their lives, Jesus lives.

We didn’t cook but we simply served food to those who started lining up. The foods were pretty good I’d say. Chicken nuggets, macaroni cheese, green beans, spaghetti, buttered rolls, some bakery desert, and watered down lemonade.

Bo had a chance to bring out his chess skills and they had some intense games.

Some of us a chance to talk to them too.

We gave them some strawberries and went off to eat lunch at Bucherest Grill.

It must’ve been the best $5.04 I spent on a meal. So good.

Detroit isn’t so dead after all, there are casinos and nice buildings, at least in the downtown Detroit.

We went off to Astoria Pastry Shop, ate some bakeries, got some more bakeries in Sheilas Bakery only to find out that I’m not a fan of flan at all, straight into the trash. Coming back to Ann Arbor, I must’ve passed out for some time in the car, we were already at Stockwell and we watched some TV together, played Loaded Questions up late.

Although we actually haven’t done too much, I have to say that it was an enjoyable trip, and I’m definitely glad that we all got to talk and laugh so much in the span of two days. Jaaaaaaaheads!
